Minimum requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in information technology or related field of study with a database engineering
focus.  3 Years of database maintenance and/or data analyst experience.  SQL specific training or certification will be an added advantage.
 
Required outputs and responsibilities:  
Maintaining and administering the databases and related computing environments including systems
software, applications software and configurations.  Performing disaster recovery operations and data backups.  Coordinating, planning and implementing database security measures.  Troubleshooting, diagnosing and resolving database related problems.  Monitoring database performance.  Conferring with database users about solving existing system problems.  Operating master consoles to monitor the performance of databases.  Coordinating database access and use.  Provide database solutions based on technical documents and business requirements.  Develop database functions, scripts, stored procedures and triggers to support application .  Prepare documentations regarding database design, configuration and change management tasks.

Create physical and logical database models as per the business requirements.

Personal attributes:  Ability to think through problems and visualize solutions.  Ability to quickly learn new or unfamiliar technology and products using documentation and internet
resources.  Team Player  A self-starter   Good analytical and problem-solving skills.  Dependable and flexible.  Database security experience.  SQL or Oracle experience.
 
Purpose: The Database Engineer will be responsible for maintaining and administering the company's
databases, including maintenance, design, and implementation of database or database linked projects in
Proconics. Other duties may include performing disaster recovery operations and the protection of data. The
candidate will also be working closely with the users and software developers in order to identify potential
issues and fix existing database related problems.
